Wasn’t Much To Do

I wrote this on Feb 1st and recorded it a couple times. I don’t like any of the versions that I did - including this one. This was recorded with my new mic - MXL 990 - but I have been having a bit of trouble with portions being limited pretty harshly. I hope its because of my mic amp settings. Anyway, here you go. It sounds a little odd in spots but you may still like it.

i’ve spent hours on an instant
and i’ve traveled over many hills
when i heard it on the wire
i left my home for a change

[pseudo-chorus]

when the train came around the bend
all these thoughts rushed my head
cause it wasn’t what i had planned
an eagle screamed up ahead
and i remembered the way i had left

[chorus]
the roads winded oh so much
and the rain came down a couple times
and there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do

surely i should have felt
a little twinge of regret
but i see a bit too clearly now
there was someone with a cup
and i didn’t offer a drop
i guess my hands can show you red

they’ll tell you where i’ve been
but i won’t tell you what i left
buried beneath the ground
i buried them beneath the ground

[chorus]
i wandered the roads too much
and the rain came down a hundred times
and there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do
without you

[solo]

[chorus]
the roads winded way too much
and the rain came down a thousand times
and there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do
no there wasn’t much to do
without you
